PITTSBURGH, PA – DECEMBER 25: Stacey Dales interviews Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15) and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (87) after the regular season NFL football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers on December 25, 2024 at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA.Forget everything you know about holiday traditions — the Kansas City Chiefs just gave Christmas a brand-new twist, and Travis Kelce is the star of the show.
The Chiefs have officially unveiled the teaser for their annual holiday short, Merry Mischief, and this year, Kelce transforms into a mischievous claymation Elf loose inside Arrowhead Stadium. Dubbed “Kelce on the Shelfie,” the animated version of the 36-year-old tight end kicks off a magical Christmas adventure that blends football chaos with festive charm.
An Elf, an Empty Stadium… and Total Mischief
The story begins with the Chiefs heading out for an away game, leaving the tiny elf version of Kelce all alone at GEHA Field. But peace doesn’t last long. Through playful stunts and magical moments, “Kelce on the Shelfie” stirs up just enough holiday chaos to fire up Chiefs Kingdom ahead of their Christmas Day showdown against the Denver Broncos.
And that’s not the only surprise.
Donna Kelce Steals the Show as the Narrator
The entire story is lovingly narrated by Donna Kelce, making the short instantly more emotional and personal.
She opens with a festive rhyme, introducing the elf in Kelce’s iconic No. 87 jersey and declaring him part of the team from the very beginning.
Her warm storytelling adds a heartfelt layer to the fun — turning what could have been a simple animation into a true family moment shared with millions of fans.
The full holiday short officially premieres December 24.
Mahomes and More Chiefs Join the Claymation Fun
Claymation versions of Patrick Mahomes, Trent McDuffie, Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, and Xavier Worthy also appear in the festive production — making it a full team celebration.
The video is part of the Chiefs’ annual Kingdom Christmas campaign, marking the third consecutive year the team has played on Christmas Day.
Chiefs president Mark Donovan shared that the holidays offer a powerful opportunity to bring the fanbase together, celebrating both the team and the Kansas City community with moments that last beyond football.
Holiday Magic Meets Playoff Pressure
The teaser arrives just days after the Chiefs’ tough 31–28 Thanksgiving loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Now sitting at 6–6, Kansas City faces real pressure as they fight to stay in playoff contention. Mahomes made it clear after the loss:
“You’ve got to win every game now — and hope that’s enough.”
Next up, the Chiefs face the Houston Texans on December 7, with their postseason hopes still hanging in the balance.
But for just a moment — thanks to a tiny animated elf and a mother’s voice — Chiefs Kingdom gets to feel the magic again.
