The New York Giants have made a familiar move to patch their defense after losing cornerback Paulson Adebo to a season-ending knee injury during Sunday’s heartbreaking 33–32 loss to the Denver Broncos.

According to multiple reports, the team has officially signed cornerback Korie Black off the New York Jets practice squad to bolster depth in their secondary.

If the name sounds familiar, it should. Black was

the Giants’ second seventh-round pick (No. 246 overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State, where he started 61 games and recorded 100 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 21 pass breakups.

During the preseason, Black suited up for just one game — coincidentally against the Jets — and impressed coaches by not allowing a single completion on 12 defensive snaps

while adding a tackle on both defense and special teams. Despite his solid showing, he did not make the team’s initial 53-man roster and instead joined the Jets’ practice squad, where he’s primarily contributed on special teams across 15 snaps.

The Giants reportedly remained interested in bringing him back and jumped at the opportunity once Adebo went down. While Deonte Banks and Art Green are expected to take the starting cornerback roles, Black’s return gives defensive coordinator

Shane Bowen another versatile option in coverage and on special teams.

To make room for the move, the Giants waived kicker Jude McAtamney, who made unwanted history last week by becoming

the only kicker in 40 years to miss two extra points (PATs) in a one-point loss.

The Giants also made a practice squad adjustment, signing defensive lineman Elijah Garcia

and releasing linebacker Jonah Griffin.

Despite their 2–5 record, the Giants’ latest roster shuffle shows a front office still determined to stay competitive — and in Korie Black’s case, sometimes the best solution really is bringing an old friend back home.
