The Kansas City Chiefs may be facing their darkest season in a decade — a playoff elimination, their MVP quarterback sidelined with a torn ACL, and a fanbase stunned — but insiders insist head coach Andy Reid has zero intention of walking away.
After the heartbreaking 16-13 loss to the Chargers shattered Kansas City’s postseason streak and left Patrick Mahomes injured, the rumor mill exploded with speculation that the 65-year-old coaching legend could use this moment to bow out.
Not so, say NFL insiders. According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, sources close to the coach delivered a clear message:
“Coach Reid ain’t going out like this.”
Another added simply:
“He’ll be back.”
Reid — the mastermind behind three Super Bowls, multiple AFC West titles, and more than 300 wins — is reportedly determined to continue rebuilding and leading the Chiefs through the 2026 season, not surrendering after a single disastrous year.
Still, change may be coming. Reports suggest offensive coordinator Matt Nagy may part ways with the franchise, and the uncertainty around Travis Kelce’s future continues to stir unease. The 36-year-old tight end refused to dismiss retirement speculation, instead choosing to redirect focus to the team’s final three games.
“I’d rather keep the focus on this team right now,” Kelce said. “It’s a unique time in my life.”
With Mahomes out until at least 2026, and Kelce nearing a crossroads, the Chiefs are entering an emotional and defining offseason.
But one thing appears certain:
Andy Reid isn’t done yet.
He’s not retreating.
He’s not running.
He’s ready to fight back.
This is not the end of the Reid era — not yet.
